Our story began long before Yummy's became Utah's original All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ restaurant. It began with family, sacrifice, fresh kimchi, and a Korean BBQ shack near Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu.
When Yummy's Korean BBQ opened in 2012, there was no other All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ restaurant in Utah. We pioneered the format โ bringing table grills, unlimited premium meats, fresh sushi, and scratch-made Korean banchan to Utah years before anyone else. We didn't follow a trend. We started one.
Yummy's Korean BBQ is more than a restaurant. It is the continuation of a family story that started when Mom and Dad came to America in the early 1980s, first arriving in Hawai'i with the hope of building the American Dream.
While attending university, they opened a small Korean BBQ shack near Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu. What began as a humble place to cook and serve became something much bigger. Surfers, North Shore locals, and tourists traveling by bus from Honolulu to the Polynesian Cultural Center found their way to Mom and Dad's Korean BBQ.
Nearly 20 years ago, after moving to Utah, our family returned to what we knew best: food. We served sushi inside small family supermarkets like Day's Market in Provo and other locally owned markets across Utah. Those early opportunities taught us how to serve fast, serve fresh, and earn trust one customer at a time.
As the business grew, so did the people we served. Our food reached Fortune 500 companies including Adobe, American Express, Intel, and UnitedHealth, and eventually colleges and universities throughout Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado.
With that momentum, our family opened Utah's first Korean BBQ restaurant. That path, from Hawai'i to Utah, from a small beachside BBQ shack to a statewide Korean food brand, is how Yummy's became what it is today.
Between our parents and the next generation, our family travels to Korea at least three times a year to keep learning, improving recipes, studying the craft, and refining how we serve Korean food throughout Utah. We are grateful for this community and excited for the future as we continue sharing authentic Korean food with the people who have supported us along the way.
